Dental Extractions in Winston-Salem
At Winston Salem Dental Group, we save your natural teeth whenever possible. However, if a tooth has deep-rooted decay or causes crowding, an extraction might be recommended.
Don’t let tooth pain interrupt your lifestyle! Come in for an exam, and we can diagnose the problem and find the right treatment for your situation.
Our extraction process is quick and efficient without sacrificing your comfort. We’ll put you at ease by administering local anesthesia to make sure you’re numb throughout the process.
Following a tooth extraction, remember the following:
- Don’t use a straw for the first 24 hours.
- Don’t smoke or use tobacco of any kind for the first 48 hours.
- You may rinse your mouth gently with warm water.
- Apply an ice pack to any swelling or mild pain for 15 minutes.
- Brush and floss your other teeth, except for the teeth directly surrounding the extraction area.
- You may use any recommended pain medication.
If you take good care of your mouth following an extraction, you can avoid complications such as dry socket. Dry socket happens when the healing tissues are disturbed and the bone is exposed to air.
For dry socket and any other post-procedure concerns you might have, please call us! We’re here to make sure you get all the way through the healing process and back to normal.
Options For Smile Restoration
After a tooth extraction, many of our patients are interested in restoring their smiles. Dental implants and dental bridges can help fill in the gap left behind by an extraction. Call us any time, or talk to us while you’re in our office if you have questions about smile restoration.
